I recently purchased a pack n' play and now am having second thoughts. I don't really travel or anything and now I'm wondering if I really even need it. What do you guys think?

when your baby starts crawilng its a lifesaver. You can put himin it and get a few chores done without him crawilg behind you undoing everything. Keep the "baby jail" (thats what we call it, lol!!) you wil use it.

As other answerers have already stated, the pack n' play can be a lifesaver. I registered for (and received) a top of the line one, with the bassinet, changing table, mobile, music, etc. It sat in the nursery completely unused. I thought "What a waste". But now that my son is 7 months old and crawling around, it really comes in handy! For the most part, he crawls around the living room for most of the day. However, when I need to clean (especially to vaccuum), use the bathroom, or leave the room, I put him in it. It still gives him his "freedom" (as opposed to a walker or exersaucer), but I don't have to worry about him getting where he's not supposed to be. Definitley keep it. You will use it at some point. When you're finished, you can always put it in a yard sale!

I used mine as a 'downstairs crib' and changing station so I wouldnt have to carry my baby up and down stairs every time I wanted to put her down for a nap or change a diaper.

When she began to stand, she got really frustrated in it and yelled until I got her out. I want to guess that this was when she was about 10 months old.

I dont know how old your baby is - but I found this plastic play yard to be absolutely wonderful. I purchased 2 extension sides and now I have a 'pen' to lock her in when Im trying to unload the dishwasher or mop the floor. Its big enough to have a small table and chair in as well as some open space so she can sit on the floor and read her books and play with her toys.

i used mine about 5 times in 4 years. Most use the playpen to put their baby in while they clean but unless you have a baby who likes that you might be cleaning with a screaming baby in the background. If you plan to use it at home keep it but if you can't think of a reason to keep it get rid of it and get your money back. If you decide later you need one you can buy a playpen (a safe one) for a lot cheaper than a pack n play that has all those other features you might not use. Mine had a diaper changing area and bassinett on it and I still didn't really use those a lot.

keep it
a pack n' play is a great thing to have at things like holidays, family outings even just going over to a friends house.
its a safe place your baby to sleep when there is not a crib around
and its a good way to keep the baby from getting into things that they shouldn't at other peoples houses
plus crib sheets fit over the top so when they are sleeping or not old enough to stand and your out say at the beach or a picnic then you can put the sheet over the top to keep the bugs off
older children tend to pull the sheet off when they can stand so i wouldn't put it on then.
but at that age there in to everything so you can get a little piece of mind by putting in toys and such so they can play

helpful at crawling/crusing stage for bathroom breaks or cooking. When you don't have full 100% attention and baby could find something to get into.... also even 1 night away...Many hotels do not have/offer cribs. We do not travel much either of the time our little on was in crib only 1 of the 3 hotels we stayed in had one..

The only thing I ever really used mine for was to create a barrier between our two couches so my son wouldn't crawl through into the kitchen! He used to go in it for very brief periods (5 minutes or less) when he was around a year but it didn't last long. Now we just use it to store toys. Although we didn't use ours much, I would say to keep it because it's one of those things you might regret not having.

GOSH yes, it is great when you need to make dinner, take shower, or bathroom or such. It is a safe place for them if you need to do something or give them some time to themselves. I loved mine with my little one. I could run upstairs and get something without worrying about what she was doing. I would keep it, I now use it as time out place--but everyone is different, since she is so mobile it is the only place that she will settle down in.

I used mine all the time! We have a two story house, and when she was little she took many naps downstairs in it. We also had a changing table attachment on it and we used it daily to change her instead of making the trek upstairs. We just put it away for a while until she starts crawling and I need her contained!

Im using mine instead of buying a bassinet and then for the many other times where you just need to keep the lil guy in one spot :) Its also nice for the living room if you live in a bigger house and that way, you cut the cost of buying a monitor.

I didn't use mine until she was about 4-5 months old. Then it was wonderful. She could roll around in there and not get into stuff... I used it until she was about 1 or so. It was nice to put her in there when I needed to take a shower or whatnot. (I am a single mom-so I didn't have anyone to watch her while I did things like that.)
