Is there a correlation between people who have low confidence and their intelligence?

They are stupid so they have low self-confidence. They have low self-confidence because they are stupid.

Not at all. Most of the people in the world are fairly stupid (or average) and yet they think themselves quite smart or at least don't think it's important. Speaking for me, who has a high intellect, I'm somewhat lacking in self-confidence. I think I'm better than everyone else, but I don't like to try new things.

Do some research on how the human brain works. Some sections control memmory, others imagination, and of course there are those wich control speech and interaction with the world. Some one can be very strong in one section and weak in another. I believe there's a balance between the sections, one section having high function makes the others function lower ( Only a certain amount of function is allowable, the brain can only process information in the language it has become accustomed to. An abstract mind has trouble reading that which is logical and so on.) Many famous scientist could barely function in the social world but made brilliant discoveries. So yes, I believe self confidence can be related to intelligence.

(The brain is so complex, at this point there can only be theories, nothing concrete, this is exactly what my statement above is intended to be.)

well if ur stupid than yeah ud have a low self-confidence bc ud always think that u cant do nothing or even do anything right. But if u have a low self confidence than that doesn't make u stupid. To be stupid or uneducated is a choice, theres school, theres books, and theres always a way for someone to learn something new if they choose to do so. Self confidence sometimes becomes embedded in someone after many years of abuse, or lack of love, relationship issues, person issues.

No. Low self confidence is a result (mostly) of environmental factors and many people with well above normal intelligence have low self confidence (even the stereotype computer nerd does) and there are many people with low intelligence who have high self-confidence - you might say they are too dumb to know their limitations - and plan things they have no chance of carrying out.

Some of the happiest and most self confident people I know are very stupid because they are completely oblivious to anything that would bother a person of average or above intelligence, and some self conscious people are very bright because of various down experience.

no that's not true, i used to be more intelligent (than i am now lol) but at the same time i had low self-confidence. having low self-confidence doesn't mean they're stupid either, it just means they are insecure about some (any) aspect about themselves.

There's no direct correlation between them. There are plenty of "stupid" people in the world with who aren't afraid to express themselves and don't care what anyone thinks. Likewise, there are plenty of shy, nervous people who are incredibly intelligent, it's just that most people don't know it because they rarely talk, and are embarrassed by speaking publicly.

But if people make fun of you for saying or doing stupid things, that could certainly chip away at your self-esteem if you haven't developed a way to cope with criticism or learned to laugh at yourself.

I don't think so. I have known very intelligent people who have low self-confidence. I don't believe that intelligence has anything to do with the way people see themselves.

Neither! I know intelligent people with low self confidence...& they are the worst you can meet...because they pretend confidence but deep down they feel worthless. They can be really paranoid because they interpert whatever you do as something against them!

ANYONE who has very good confidence can go big thats why you get musicians which are so good at acting even over people who have done it there whole life. for example eminem, sting etc. so if u have low self confidence it wont help you in life. make your own view from that :)
