CSS is used to define a websites style (things like fonts, general layout, backgrounds)
HTML is then used to create the actual webpage (things like the placement of text, tables, images, and links)
JavaScript is used to make the site dynamic if need be (popups, text that changes font/color/size, etc.)
-Those are the three main components of a web site. Also, PHP or ASP is used to generate web pages based on certain variables.
SQL is used to manage databases which keep track of stuff like usernames, passwords, forum messages, etc.
