to my husband's cousin who is going through a divorce. Her husband has been a real jerk and we just want to send her flowers and let her know we are thinking about her. Saying that sounds like something you say to someone after someone dies. Any help?

you could always say something like "brighter days are ahead for you, so hang in there. we're thinking about you and hope for the best." nothing funeral oriented about that, it's supportive, and it lets her know you care. just a thought...in general, you're supportive of her by doing something like this, so i'm sure she'll get the message and appreciate the gesture.

Go with simple. Let her know that you are thinking of her, that you think she is great and that you will be there for her if she needs you (as long as you mean it). Anything that makes her feel supported and not alone will be great

for her it may feel like a death so I think it's totally appropriate to say that.
Maybe just something like, we wish there was something we could do to spare you the pain your going through but just know that we're thinking of you right now and we love you very much.
Whatever you write I think it is very sweet of you to do that.

Just say, "Thinking of you " and leave it at that. That way she knows you care and your words can't be accused of causing anyone pain. I'm sure she'll love the flowers. =-)
