Fez(thank you so much) posted this site as an example to a question Sarah T posted and it made me wonder if takshitas, caftans and jellabas were available in Morocco in these beautiful colors. If so approximately how much would they cost and where would be the best place to get one. I'm more interested in the colors than in the material as I'm sure the silk ones would be too expensive for me.

:D Yeah, I only used that as an example and yes, you can find a lot better. (The site is also over priced.) The site is pretty old actually and there were once other dresses on it. I have been using it as a visual aid to give ppl for years! :) You can find these things EVERYWHERE. Even on the side of the street there will be poor women selling new djellabas to make some extra money. You can have them tailored made (much more common to have things tailor made there than here). Material is better and cheaper overall in Morocco too.

BTW, the flowered ones that are shown have been out of style for a while now. At least that is what I was told a few years back. That doesn't mean you can't get one and lounge around the house in it. :)
I know you aren't looking for Couture but I wanted to share all that Morocco has so:

Here is a pic of a djellaba/caftan store (just a regular one - not high end): http://www.flickr.com/photos/90434917@N00/521471702/

edit: my takshita was about half what smarty pants Sarah T said below :P but maybe my mother in law had connections or she lied about the price.

Yes, absolutely. The easiest way (and usually cheapest) is to have one made - you have your measurements taken, buy the recommended amount of fabric, then take it back to the tailor to have your takshita made custom. I've had two made at this point - one is 100% silk and cost something awful (I'm guessing about $500 US - but most of that was the fabric itself) and the other is a lesser quality silk and cost around $150. I've had djellabas made for $25 US though, so it really just depends on where you buy your fabric, how many embellishments you want, etc. Mine are extremely detailed (they were for my wedding, etc).

Bring those photos with you - most tailors in Morocco can do ANYTHING.

You can buy taksheeta, caftan and djellaba similar to what is on that site. You can get a simple caftan, machine sewn that is quite attractive for as little as $70. I think the cheapest taksheeta you will find will be no less than $200 but I could be wrong.
You will find a plethora of colors and patterns. It is rare to see two of the same taksheeta.
What I usually do is buy silk saree's from India or Dubai and have them made into taksheeta's. You can get silk saree's from India and Dubai for MUCH less than you can buy them here and have them sewn. You can order the saree's online. You need about 3 meters for the average dress.

i think that the emphasis replaced into on in spite of if or not the little one replaced into Madeleine, not the family contributors who have been with the little one. I on no account felt that it replaced into her, regardless of the undeniable fact that it is lots extra effective to have those possibilities explored than for the photographer to continuously ask your self for worry of frightening a family contributors. they had not something to disguise and it would have been undemanding for them to locate her-a techniques much less dissatisfied than the individuals who love Madeleine are nevertheless experiencing. i've got not actual examine or heard of each person making accusations in the direction of this family contributors, so i think of all and sundry enormously lots took it interior the main suitable spirit, i.e. is it or isn't it, quite than are they are are not they little one abductors/pedlars etc. there has been lots activity generated with the aid of Madeleine's disappearance and with the aid of the behaviour of the acquaintances and family contributors that I honestly have faith that individuals care to in spite of if she is alive or not, and want justice. The race shade or creed is inappropriate. The activity is by technique of the fact the entire element has felt unusual from the commencing up. I care approximately her whereabouts and that i additionally care approximately all the different lacking toddlers and individuals who're killed daily. we are residing in a tragic undesirable worldwide in some respects, and it can be a shame to extra cloud this with accusations of racism. permit's desire this unhappy tale has a happy finishing. definite i understand, unlikely. yet until there is evidence otherwise there remains a glimmer.

You can get much nicer ones in Morocco for sure. You can buy them off the shelf or you can have one tailor made for you. They are a real work of art...beautiful! As for price, they will vary depending on where you buy, fabric, etc. They can get very expensive.
