Con's.. it's advertising was not that great.. , I kind of wish you could see more of what she was thinking about.. but mostly what you see of her in both the fantasy AND the reality is reaction.. She doesn't ever stop to think.. Many people are staying away from it because it was not dubbed.. (I actually prefer hearing it in it's original language.. I've gotten quite good at reading subtitles.. I no longer even notice it)
Pro's, the movie is styalistically PERFECT.. the set, the music, the costmume.. lighting.. Everything made you feel like you were there.. The acting was right on.. The plot was interesting, and your really did care what happened to her.. (and the others for that matter).. They did portray both the negative and the postive aspects of Pan.. (which to me.. is important)
Overall I think the pro's outweigh the cons.. it was an amazing movie..
The closest I can think of would be MirrorMask.. by the makers of The Labrynth with Neil Geiman.. Wonderful movie.. not AS dark as Pan's Labrynth, but not as reality based as Bridge to Terribithia

That movie was great. The violence really helped the movie because it made the viewers see that there was a rift between reality and fantasy and sometimes for a child both worlds cross into one. The little girl dealt with her pain by being imaginative and the details were great to me. The only thing that i would have liked too see more of was a better detailed ending. Without the violence i feel that this movie would be just another fantasy flick. I liked it because they showed us that the world even from a child's point of view can be a wicked place but she still kept believing and that is what matters
Some other movies that deal with the same thing s;
Finding Never land because the children's mother is dying so they dream of being in the book peter pan
James and the giant peach because James wants to get away from his evil aunts/ his parents died

I can't think of any cons of this movie. I really enjoyed it. I think the whole violent plot was needed to show exactly why she would escape into this other world. I guess if I had to choose a con I would have said I would have loved to see more of the faun and the world outside of reality. The movie was excellent though. Seeing it in theaters though sucked. The movie projectionist screwed it up, so I didn't get to see the first 3 minutes. I did buy it though. :)
Another movie that a child escapes a crappy reality and thus goes into her imagination is a movie called "Tideland". I didn't like this movie. I found the plot kind of sick and it made me feel really uncomfortable.

I loved the movie. The visual effects were amazing, and like others have said-- I really felt for the main character. I recorded a voice-over of it for my dad, because he can't see the subtitles-- and I don't think I'd have the stamina to do that for a movie unless it was worth watching.
As for the violence, the bottle-to-the-face part stood out as gruesome, but it also made it perfectly clear: the Captain is a total jerk who is capable of hurting anyone-- even the girl in the end.
As for other movies where children use their imagination to escape, I think "The Wizard of Oz" qualifies.

This movie was fantastic! They called it a fairy tale for adults and they weren't kidding. I could not have been more impressed. I have seen so many movies it's ridiculous, but this one is definitely 6 in my top ten, the other five are too much my faves for it to take their place.

this movie was great, keep in mind it is more for adults. making the movie longer i could agree just a little on that although it was great. other movies where young kids use there imaginations is bridges to terabithia. this movie is for younger people but if there to young to learn about death they may not understand a part of it.

I feel that you could have reduced a lot of the violence and merely implied a lot, or just shown the results, rather than the actual actions of it.
Personally, it wasn;t the "Gosh! Wow!" movie I had been lead to believe it was, although it was an incredibly imaginative one
