Cigarettes were 50 cents in the machine and I don't remember the cost of a stamp. School lunch was 25 cents a day.

I can remember when a pack of cigarettes were 24 cents because we took out an insurance policy on my husband and I remember the agent saying that would only be a pack of cigs a week. Postage, I remember being 7 cents a 1st class letter.

I Think can remember an 8 cent post card and maybe a 17 cent stamp. Of course I was a mere Babe in the Cradle.

Cigs were about 35 cents a pack when I started smoking in the late sixties. They were just over a buck when I quit smoking on Sept. 29th, of 1982. A postage stamp was a whopping seven cents. Back then the mailman made two deliveries a day.

I remember $.13 stamps.

I also remember my dad swearing to quit smoking once a carton of cigarettes hit the ridiculously price of $5/carton. (CARTON, mind you, not PACK). Must have been around '77, '78?
