ok i have like a really old tv, well not that old, but its a tube tv. well i tried to turn it on, and it made a shock niose, and turned back off. well at the same time i had windows media player playing some music. and for no reason the music had cut off. i went back to my pc, and i had seen that the music was still playing, just not producing any sound. so i was wondering if anyone knew what had went wrong. my sound does not work at all now. and it only happened after my tv zapped somehow. can anyone help? by the way according to my software files, my sound card is still installed, and so is the driver. hmmm?

Your T V and the computers external speakers may be plugged into the same power source ex: a phat phoebe, a fused multistrip etc.. Remote, but possible, does the TV have a sound output wired to the computer sound card? Maybe someone was trying to record audio on the CD burner. Lastly, you may have blown your sound card with a static zap.

see if the speakers are still working they might of blown and not work anymore check it using headphones or something thats the only thing i can telly uo to fix your problem because the speakers have like some magnets and when those magnets get misplaced or have a huge amount of radiation the speakers get messed up so try using other speakers see it that cuts it.

the uncomplicated thank you to rule out the extension is to get a competent plug (freeview plug will do) and insert it into the socket, it would be particularly tight to push in, if it is going in too ordinary, the contacts interior the socket want tightening, once you're there, persist with what the others have suggested with regard to the plug.
