Some truths are fixed and other flexible.

First truth : 2 x 2 = 4. This is a fixed truth.

Second : The sky is blue. This is a relative truth.

Some truths can be stretched and some can hurt you.

Is truth fixed or Flexible, you asked? It depends on the individual, that is telling the truth, of whatever subject he is talking about. Some people stretch the truth a little bit, and others are flexible about it, I do not think that it will hurt you if you have an open mind about it.

It is fixed. If the truth is stretched, it becomes something else, not the truth (like, a lie, ya know). It's not flexible and it can hurt. But it is the truth, what we really all want, including the pain. Somehow we can bear it for the truth.

Truth is absolute. It cannot be stretched nor is it flexible. If you stretch the truth, it becomes a lie. The truth cannot hurt you, thus it is not flexible. Look at your hand. Can you change it into something else? If you stretch it, will it still be your hand?
NO! The truth is what it is by itself; it does not need any help.

Truth must be flexible as persception rules understanding. Facts have little to do with understanding. It may be an accepted truth that 2 x 3 = 6, but until a child really understands and integrates that knowledge into his/her perspective, it is meaningless.

Truth cannot be fixed as our lenses of understanding and the time we need for processing are all different. LOL... look at the Sciences. We are geocentric... no wait!! The Earth revolves around the Sun! We are heliocentric! Perspective rules all, and our understanding often labours to keep up. Nothing is static.

As truth (as deemed by me! *grin*) is flexible, it can hurt due to the nature of our perspectives and understanding. I may tell you that you are beautiful and see that statement as the truth. You may feel ugly inside and not recognise my truth. Perspective is everything... use it or lose it! :)

Truth should be fixed, but due to our emotions and feelings for others we have lost perspective on that and tend to stretch the truth. And the sad thing is a lie will go farther then truth will any day. And I'm reminded of a saying I heard, If you open your mouth wide enough, you might just wind up with a mouth full of crows. Which means watch what you say or do because you could lose a friend, or a loved one and your left alone, and going through life alone is the worst punishment one could receive.

The TRUTH not flexible IT is fixed.

What is flexible is the pathway to truth. It not only stretches out before you...because it takes you a long time to recognize it, it is always fixed, even though it is inter weaved in a tapestry of time, past, present and space.

the truth does NOT hurt you, for it is the truth that sets you free.

the only hurt one receives from the truth, is in sometimes releasing the lies we face the truth and we cry for that which we did not want to let go of.

there is one TRUTH, and all mankind will find that truth, in their own way, on their own path, in their own time.

"Truth" I think is probably fixed. But our perception of it may be based only on limited or incorrect information, preconceptions, or on viewpoint. So, based on all this, and often on convenience, self-validation, etc, it is unlikely to be "truth" but certainly can be stretched, and extraordinarily flexible as any political campaign will demonstrate. It's we who must be flexible, and stretch ourselves, to learn new "truths" that conflict with our own past convictions. But that demands thought, and is discomforting - a never-ending road - so most prefer to think they have fixed truths by the ears. Truth can never hurt you, even if it's only a temporary new insight subject to change like all the rest, through reality checks, further study and critical thought But fixed illusions of "truth" become delusions, and they are dangerous - at minimum by restricting learning and thought and distorting observation of reality That's why I shy at religions or political and economic dogma. But the search is fun.

Is fixed equivalent to absolute and flexible equivalent to non-absolute? Truth can be general or specific. Depending on the circumstances that specificity can make one truthful but not honest.

The truth can be flexible as our paradigms change. Once it was considered truth that the world was flat but science proved that the world was "round." There's a relativism among truths that can make the truth flexible but truths in themselves can be fixed. In other words, the truth is determined by what is known and what is accepted as proven. As we discover new knowledge truths change, which makes what was once fixed, fixed once again.

Defining truth is a task in itself.

Truth is absolute. It depends on how its "represented" that determines if it or is fixed or flexible. Most people stretch it for their own personal gains and others use it to hurt people.
