I believe Joe Montana was the greatest winning quarterback ever! I don't remember montana ever losing a playoff game, in which he played the entire game, can you? Whats Montana's winning %, when he starts and finishes the game?

ok. please read carefully. the question is What is Joe montana playoff record when he starts and finishes the game? my point is the only way to beat Montanas teams is to knock him out of the game! if you excluse the games that he wasnt able to finish his winning % is way up there!

Montana was a great one.....no question about that. He always had a great supporting cast, though. He had great offensive lines...... he had Rodger Craig...... Tom Rathman.....Ronnie Lott......Coach Bill Walsh. He had a heck of a receiver too. What was his name? Oh yeah......Jerry Rice.

In my biased opinion, John Elway was a better quarterback. While Montana took some great teams to the Super Bowl.......John Elway took some mediocre teams there. If Elway played behind the offensive lines that Montana did, and had all of that talent around him, not much changes in San Francisco. They still get all of those wins...... and maybe more.

But if Montana had to play behind the lines that Elway had to, and with the talent that was around him, I think Montana would have suffered a career ending injury in his first 3 years.

John Elway was the Denver Broncos. Until the Super Bowl winning years, I bet very few people could name another offensive Bronco player other than John Elway. He took 3 of those no name offenses to Super Bowls. If Elway had Terrell Davis, Rod Smith, Ed McCaffrey, and Shannon Sharpe when he was younger, those guys would have won several more Super Bowls.

I'm not disrespecting Montana at all. The guy was a stud. I just think Elway was a better quarterback......and a much better athlete.

His record in post season is 16-7.

But it's so not true that any other QB would have won all those rings in those 49ers. As an example, the first SB champions the 1981 Niners had defense (which helps but it's not enough, just look at the Raiders) but I bet you can not name an offensive star. Yes, Dwight Clark made The Catch, but he was above average at best, nothing extraordinary.

Winning drives. I don't think any other QB would have moved the ball vs. the Cowboys D the way he did it in the NFC championship in 1981, or vs the Bengals in Super Bowl XXII. When Brady finishes his drives in TD and not in FGs we will compare.

In 1993, he carried the nothing spectacular Chiefs to the AFC championship with 2 comebacks victories in the postseason vs the Steelers and the Oilers. Did you know that the Chiefs have not won a playoff game since then?

I dont remeber his stats. But I think of the best winning QBs in the playoffs is Brady. I am no fan of the Pats but Brady is like 11-2 in the playoffs.

there is no question of joe montana as one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, but strong arguments can be made of terry bradshaw, troy aikman, bart starr, and tom brady.

Uh...Last time I checked, NOBODY...Thats why he is regarded as the greatest QB in history...because he is...I think if Tom Brady gets 5 Super Bowls (at least 2 more), he makes a strong case for best ever...

He lost a lot of playoff games. I think I could do about as well on the teams he played on.
