I am going to attempt rotating the tires on my Chevy 1500. Is it safe to jack up the truck with 4 jacks. I have one hydrolic jack and 4 floor jacks. I am not afraid to rotate the tires. I am afraid the truck is going to slip from the jacks and fall. Am I attempting this the wrong way? How do you guys do it?

Uh, no, that's NOT safe.

If you have to do it yourself, here's how.

Jack up the truck and exchange the first tire with the SPARE TIRE. Then take the removed tire, and exchange it for the next tire in the rotation order. Then exchange that tire for the next and so on. Lastly, you'll exchange the last tire to be rotated with the spare you installed in the first place. All 4 tires changed, and all with one jack.

.

To rotate your ties, you only need ONE jack, and the spare tire.

Be Smart, and you will be safe.

OK, this isnt the safest way to do this but.....Make sure its on a level surface, jack up the rear in the center of the axle then jack up each side of the front using 3 floor jacks. Only do one side at a time. Be safe use your head. The right way would be to put in on jacks stands or pay 30 bucks for a shop to do it

Be safe use Jack Stands. Just take your time and jack the vehicle up one side at a time and then put a weight rated jack stand under the frame of the vehicle on each side.

You have to use jack stands. Having the truck supported with jacks is a little dangerous.

4 jacks is a bad idea.. especially if they all have wheels. Use one jack and a set of jack stands... or use your spare tire and change one side at a time.

You need to lift the driver's front and passenger rear by the suspension, rotate those two tires and then do the opposite tires. If you life by the suspension it's not going to be wobbly, but if you lift it by the frame you're going to make it unstable.
