Raleigh, NC
The climate is good, mild temperate zone. Not too cold of winter but hot summers.
The cost of living is pretty low for a limited time. Housing is pretty cheap.
The people are very friendly.
The local economy is growing fast, always new jobs and lots of new opportunities. Yet traffic is not a major concern.
The local government is obsessed with education so schools are among the best in the East. It's very family oriented.
Mainly it's the good growth that makes the Triangle area a great place to live.
Now, in my own opinion, I prefer the Tampa bay area due to the warm weather all year, not too extreme summers.
Lots of pretty girls and great restaurants.
Best of all, you got the beach nearby.
But that's just my thoughts. I am sure many people would find Raleigh a better area.
Edit: Sorry Mr. Spock. I'm wanting to move back to FL myself, but I need a good job to save up before I move back to Tampa.

Wilkes-Barre is a place I came across in many of my train travels. Cost of living is cheap. 2 hours from NYC and 1 1/2 hours from Philly. Climate has the 4 seasons. Foliage is nice. There are more places to shop as of late
Political system is pretty corrupt though. In addition, we have a lot of bars (good or bad depending on how you look at it.). It's improving honestly. The funniest statistic is that people of Wilkes-Barre are one of the biggest drunks in the country (2nd most alcoholics per capita nationwide, 2nd only to Pottsville).
So if you can take the alcohol b/c people there are pros, you'll be good. Oh yeah, just avoid the south side.

I would say NYC. Close proximity to anywhere in the East. Many cultural attractions and opportunities, great history. Everything you could possibly want is right at hand.

Never been there, but I would say Honolulu.
Wonderful climate. Beautiful location.
Problem is probably expensive to live there.

Orlando sucks and is crime ridden, they just don't tell you on the news because they don't want to scare the tourists.
