I don't think its from Mexican trucks but because local, state, and federal governments have for decades pushed off real maintenance and re-construction of bridges, roads, water/waste-water lines, and the electrical grid. It is so much better for a politician to be a ribbon cutting of a new community center or golf course, the first shovel turn at a new building, or blowing a whistle for the first children to jump in a pool. Maintenance is not "SEXY" and it does not in the politicians eyes win them votes so they really are not out there making a push to do the required maintenance on our infrastructure and I really don't see them doing it now they still want to build the bridges to Ted Stevens Nowhere Alaska and the next Robert Byrd national wild gerbil study building in Morgantown, WV.

While it's true they are subject to the same weight restrictions, I defy you to find a scale house in the state of Texas, which is the state most of them will be running most frequently, that is open on a regular basis.
Mexican drivers are only subject to the hours of service regulations AFTER they enter the United States. They don't have to keep log books in Mexico. When the driver crosses the border there is no way of knowing if he's been driving one hour or twenty.

Say what? What in the world makes you think that they are over weighted mexican trucks that is causing the problem. Number one the bridges are getting old. When they were built we had less traffic at the time and cars were not SUV's and we did not hall as much merchandise as we do now by truck. There are many other trucks and veichels that use roads. They are just not from Mexico. I don't know about that artical.

Quite a number left.
The sad thing is, seems that the US needs bridges that are just like the Wilson Bridge near Washington, DC and the Memorial Causeway in Clearwater, FL

Don't complain about it or you wil become a racist. The black helicopters will abduct you tonight and you will magickly end up in a grey alien examination room in New Mexico in live 3 seconds. The grey alien's warp speed drives can go very fast. Don't piss off Satan because with his technology, he might as well be ominipotent.

If a bridge is so poorly designed that there is no margin of safety to allow for an overloaded truck then they don't deserve to stay up. Go back to uni and learn how to design them properly.

Trucks entering the US from Mexico will be subject to the same weight restrictions that US-originated trucks are.
Your question appears to be based on your lack of comprehension of the international trucking agreement. Get someone to explain it to you.
