They guy above mentioned your transmission vacuum modulator. Since you just had back and have been driving it I would check that because at most trans shops they wont replace those if they still test good. But in the event that its not bad then I would start looking into the engine condition

Take it back to the transmission shop and let them check it over to see if it is sucking transmission fluid into the engine somewhere. I don't know if they still use a vacuum modulators, but they used to leak and cause that problem years ago. It may be something like that that's causing your problem.

The white smoke could either be condensate buring out of the exhaust, or it could be a head gasket leaking or intake manifold gasket. It must have been one heck of a road test, to check out the transmission. Unless you can prove that the transmission guys messed it up, then you will have to have it looked at and fixed. good luck.

If white smoke was coming out of the tailpipe, chances are it is an engine-related issue. Have a mechanic look at it. I doubt that it's your transmission.

Some times white smoke is a indication of a blow-en head gasket. Check to see if there is water in the oil. Also unscrew your oil cap and turn it up side down. If there is like a milky substance that is another way to tell.

I don't know about your car, but all of the cars I have owned have the exhaust coming from the engine, not the transmission. So, unless you have one of those new-fangled and very rare expensive imported cars with the engine in the transmission housing, it doesn't have anything to do with your transmission rebuild.

The vacuum modulator could be leaking(pulling trans fluid into the intake).
