try the following:

1. there is a little switch, probably on the side of the laptop case, that turns the Wi-Fi off. check that it is on

2. turn laptop all the way off and then reboot

3. open the connections mechanism from the bottom toolbar and rescan for your usual Wi-Fi connection -- select it and connect

4. unplug your Wi-Fi router for 30 seconds and replug it in. [You may need to reboot computer again.]

5. if all of those haven't done it, then make a new connection using Windows to the Wi-Fi node with correct node name and WEP key.

6. open the router's control panel {see documentation for how -- it is virtual control panel and opens via a computer's web browser} and check that the Wi-Fi portion is operating.

7. Then check to see that it is connected to Internet. If it is not, try to connect directly to internet [ISP] without the router. At this point, it is ok to call your ISP for help doing this.

Does the little wireless light show it being on? Some laptops have an on/off switch on the edge, to turn off wireless (no idea why). Could be that you accidentally turned it off.

Who are "the people"? Your employers? Technicians? Neighbors? They would have to know the WPA of the router, to know that it doesnt match your laptop. Maybe THEY are changing the WPA on the router occassionally, for security purposes. Check with them to see if this is the case.

that happens to my laptop but with a wireless router. It might be because your operating system isnt reading the router correctly you can fix this by re instaling windows or you might try to fix your network connection. try this if you dont want to re install windows. go to my computer then click my network connections on the left side of the window then on the left side window you will click on view my network connections then on the wireless connection right click it then click repair this might fix your problem. Hope this helps.
