It shouldn't - but it does. The United States has never had a President that had any other skin color, besides white. Also, we have never had a woman be elected President (except in the fictional TV show "Commander in Chief"). Once those things have happened, it won't be an issue anymore, as everybody will have "been there and done that".

No. There are a lot of people who are really impressed with the race of this candidate, or the gender of that one. Their ideas and their character are important, not their race or gender. I'm afraid a lot of people will vote for external things because they like the symbolism. They will be sorely disappointed when reality rears its ugly head.

Not purely objectively. However it would look strange for a white guy to to act like he knows what black women think. You can switch that around any way you want. The question of credibility comes to mind...

no it shouldn't, but at this moment in time it does. you ask me i think it is mest up that only the 2 major parties are the only ones that get to debate. i would like to hear everyones views.
