In July I was visiting a friend that lives in an apartment complex. A woman there had a monkey for a pet. The monkey didn't like ciggarette smoke so I went to my car and sat inside. The woman came over to my car, the monkey jumped in my car and attacked me. It bit my finger very badly and it ended up getting infected. I am still having problems with my finger being swollen and sore and think their may be tendon damage. I would like to get a lawyers advice as far as sueing this woman but don't really know what my chances might be for winning this case. Since it bit me, it has bitten another person and the woman has to get this monkey out of Wisconsin as it is considered a dangerous animal. Should I see a lawyer and what are my chances of winning this case?

Send the lady a letter explaining your medical issues, and enclose the medical bills.

She may be more reasonable than you think.

However, if she isn't reasonable, you probably should file a complaint in small claims court, if the monkey bite's damage does not cost more than $10,000.00 in medical bills.

I don't know of many attorneys willing to sue over a monkey bite if the value of the case is less than $10,000.00.

Good luck! And don't get too close to GW anymore.

It depends on if you provoked the animal or not. But its in your best interest to visit a doctor if he broke the skin to see if you are alright.
If you have some disease (Which is unlikely because you are still here) then you can sue for around 3x medical costs.

Absolutly as the owner is legally responsible for the act of an animal. I would also be seeking serious medical attention as the bite of a primate can be MUCH more serious than that of a dog. They transmit many many nasty diseases. Good luck to you.......

Heck yeah you can sue, you went to a different place and she brought her monkey anyway then he attacked you. You have every right to sue.

it is same as a dog bite ... so, yes you can.

owner is responsible for her pet's behavior.

see a personal injury lawyer and ask.

Are you looking to get Medical Costs reimbursed or make a quick buck?
Yes on the former, not likely on the latter....

This is odd. I wouldn't even tell anyone a monkey bit me. I would just get it checked out and hand her my med bills.
