It seems like people now, instead of judging for themselves the policies of the politicians in Washington join one side or the other, and defend their party's platform, even as the politicians on both sides abandon their supposed platforms and assume the same agenda, democrat or republican.

It doesn't take a genius to see that there is very little difference on substantial issues between Republican top-tier candidates and democrat top-tier candidates. They debate irrelevant issues that might as well be whether Bud Light tastes great or is less filling.

truly it does seem to be in short supply. i wonder do ppl ready support their party 100% and question nothing that they do. i find it hard to believe that but from many of the post that seems to be the case.

mostly it seems ppl are angry when others' disagree and rather than debate the issues, they just call names, report ppl for abuse when it is just an opposing idea.

still there are some that have dialog and debate so i guess that is worth it.

some of the avatars are so funny and some of the flip answers are too. i appreciate humor instead of the viciousness. at least i get some laughs.

you are correct in that the two parties are more blended that they used to be, IMO.

Granted the politicians were always allowed to throw into a bill/law anything they wanted to so that crap became law just so many 1 idea of merit became law. The politicians were allowed to be unaccountable. BoTh sides of the aisle have taken it to new lows daily.

It is time to take back our government by making the politicians accountable. Make them write the laws so that a 12th grader can clearly understand them. If the government wishes to dumb down the population then the way the laws are written should be required to follow it. With each bill limited to 1 clearly & narrowly defined item it would be clear who was in whos' pocket.

For those that don't understand how this relates to the question, the people we call our "Leaders" have long ago stopped thinking outside of the box or listening to those that do. The majority have just given up saying they can't make a difference.

The individual can made a difference if our government is transparent at least on the non National Security items today.

Thinking for one's own self has gone out of fashion!!! Instead, society is "ruled" by the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears.

Consider then, if these are the social yardsticks by which others in society may be measured, why should any other people be expected to acquire and uphold higher standards???

Now, if someone like Bob Pease was the social yardstick in America, then America would be so SOOOOO much better condition!!!!

You're right.

It's hard to have independent thought when the media and politicians try to scare you into believing that what they say is the truth.

It's easier to repeat what someone tells you than it is to actually think.
