I've only gotten into football a few years ago and i've learned almost everything about the game except... what's the difference between a whole sack and half a sack?

A sack, is when You tackle a Quarterback for a loss. a half sack, is when You and, someone else do it. then You are credited with a half sack each.

A half sack is when a couple of defenders get to the quarterback at the same time. If more than 2 get there, they still all get half sacks. So you can have 3/2 of a sack on one play as weird as that sounds. Another note is that if you just knock the ball out of the qbs hand its a sack. Even if they pick it up and run for a touchdown.

That's when 2 players combine to make a sack on the QB.
