Q-ball, thank you :) ... And, no, I wouldn't even consider it, I am "me", no one can change that.. Believe me, some tried it in the past, in a non-friendly manner... But, I simply ignore such comments... and move on :)

That's an interesting quote. Personally I think it means that no matter what other people think of you and how they interact with you; ultimately it's you who decides the way in which you view yourself. Others may abuse you; attack you hate you but whether that is taken to heart depends is a decision made by the person it is directed towards.

All of us everyday, are affected by human interaction yet it's how we personally judge these interactions as individuals that have an impact on our persona as a whole.
Good Q.

Aah! Again and again this lass come up with some gems of questions! What a pleasure to try and answer them!!! Thanx Kim!
Imagine for just one second, that someone should be so audacious as to suggest to you: Kimberly, that you shouldn't kick off your questions with your usual greetings, which include: "Thanks for answering in advance!" . . . Would you SERIOUSLY consider dropping this - by now already a - custom?! I doubt it very much.
It is the same with one's self-esteem. You build up a mental picture of yourself as you go along in life. This sums up your self-esteem. And unless you allow other people's sour comments and negative critisisms to change that mental picture, you will retain it. It may evolve as time goes on, but the basics usually stays the same. Thus, Mz Rooselevt was quite correct in her assumption that no one can change your self esteem without you allowing it!

I do not quite agree with the word "Consenting".
To accept , in all knowledge , to feel inferior goes against human nature.
If someone has a deep and strong feeling of inferiority , it is not by consent.
This inferiority feeling is due to things that has happened in his past or that he is experiencing now.
Things on which he has no control.
This lack of assertiveness cannot be a choice.
People suffer by lacking assertiveness .
They feel inferior , that's for sure , but not by consent.
PS.
Only my opinion , i am not a psychologist.

The feeling of superior in life lies and embedded in the thoughts of a person. It is feeding inputs on one's mind to be the best of everything. All the patterns must have concur with what you thought. It must agree on the ideas you have set in your mind. On the otherside of the coin, the feeling of inferiority goes through with same process just as what i mentioned in the former. I say the same because you have only one processor responsible to do it and that is your mind.

Each and every one has got their own talents, gifts, chances and lot.
Each and every one has got their own share. No one would be allotted another's.
These shares are evenly, fairly and wisely allotted.

Those who are not satisfied with their shares start looking for others'.
In doing so, they humiliate themselves, in some way or another. They make themselves inferior in a lot of ways. They easily, cheaply and foolishly give their consent to be inferior.

Wow! This is also one of my favorite quotes I have it written and pinned on a bulletin board. To me it means be yourself. I have on the same piece of paper.

"be yourself no one does it better" I don't know who said this but I like the quotes together.

I read these quite often when I feel down.

Very interesting and inspiring quote... to me it means that someone can make you feel inferior if you choose to let them and if you choose to let what they are using to demean you get to you. Only you can feel superior through your self-confidence and love.

First, I don't believe it has anything to do with feeling superior or self righteous. It's not a judgment of those who judge you. You are who you are, & have the wisdom not to be impacted by the views of others. It's a bit like, you can't be abused unless you allow yourself to be abused, (granted, with some differences).
Personally--I am who I am with convictions carefully evaluated; in this way, I'm strong. How could I, or why would I allow my outer society to alter my feelings?

be happy with who you are........have values........and know your self worth
when you let others bother you with comments., or when you are around negative people......you allow it, when you don't allow it, you will not feel inferior....(by the way.....sometimes easier said then done.)
at 57...........it gets much easier..........lol
have a great weekend too, and great quote

That is one of my favorite quotes also. To me it means that you are at peace in your world without having to explain yourself and not demanding any explanation from anyone else.
