As already stated, they have already attacked the US...whose response under Ronald Reagan was to run away.
Could we retaliate? Sure.
Effectively? Not so sure...we're kinda tied up in Iraq for the moment and the moment we leave Iran moves in...I mean moves in more so.
In reality, I think you have it backward. I think Hezbollah -backed by Iran- will be attacked by the US. There has been a rising war of words between the US and Iran for several months. Cheney is desperate to attack Iran. Due to internal WH conflict, he and other hawkish GOP'ers may settle for hitting Hezbollah which is really a strike against Iran by proxy.
Question is...when and how hard will Hezbollah strike back?

Yes, Hezbollah attacked American (and French, FWIW) peacekeepers in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1983 - using suicide bombers in trucks packed with explosives, killing 300. I'm sure that's not the only incident, but it was certainly a memorable one.

they only fight encroachment from zionists, and taught israel hard lessons last summer, without them, Lebanon would have been under occupation. they do not attack America, many times America has given Hizb'Allah money, Hizb'Allah is rebuilding from last summers war against the invaders. I do not consider them my enemy.
