Well first you have to find a good book that interest you. Maybe the books you have been reading aren't really what you call page-turners. So take one day... and clear your mind don't think about anything else. Then go to a room or somewhere where no one will bother you and just have peace and quite then start to read. and don't stop untill you finish. Push yourself. even if you want to put it down dont'
well happy reading.

I love reading books ever since I was young. Well, last year was a terrible year because all the books my teacher chose was super boring. I would read the book out loud or your finger to point at the words. I had to do that when I read the Scarlet Letter- I couldn't understand a word of it. Anyways, sometimes on youtube, you can find audio of books- I'm a fast reader so that would make the process slower because the tapes read slow, but in this way, you can imagine someone was telling you a story. I would recommend sparknotes to understand the book, but not to use it in place of the book. Sparknotes is not always right; sparknotes just offers ideas that are written by college students. You should read in a place that does not have distractions. If you're reading with a tv on or your siblings playing 4 ft away from you, it will be hard to concentrate on a book. Sometimes I like reading outside. It's much more comfortable there; or you could read at the park. If you have to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" well- I feel for you. It has cliche ideas and plot.

As weird as it sounds, people read differently. Yes, there's fast and there's slow, but then there are other, more quirky kinds of reading like yours. I guess it's annoying the hell out of you or something, but if it's something you just do, then it's just something you do. I think it makes you interesting and different, in a really good way.
But if you really want to focus more on finishing a book before starting a new one, then determination is the only thing that can save you, there. Force yourself to read through the book when you want to read it. If you want to read all day, then read all day, and force yourself if you have to. If you see a book you want to pick up, don't do it, tell someone to hide it from you if it's so bad. But the way you read it's a bad thing, or anything. At least you finish the book. Some people don't. I only don't if it's a terrible book, and I can't stand looking at it anymore, haha. And I've only really read the entire day if it's an amazing book I'm reading, like Harry Potter 7, Trickster's Choice and its sequel Trickster's Queen, and Twilight, and its sequel, New Moon. Maybe it's just that you haven't found your favorite book yet. Or maybe it is just the way you are. -shrug-

Ha Ha! I've had times where i read like 4 books at the same time. It's funny, isn't it?
I guess just make a committment to finish the book you start, and limit yourself to only like 2 books at a time. I have 2 bookshelves full of books, and at least one whole row is of books I have not read yet. Some of them I've had for a couple years now. Good luck!

Perhaps you aren't interested in the books you are reading. I can do that if it isn't really appealing to me. However, if it is a great read, I can hardly put it down. I have read all night because it was so exciting. That isn't such a good thing when you have to go to work, but the book is really memorable.

to just read a book is just that, nothing more. to actually get involved in the story is different. books are better, sometimes, than the actual movies they make based on the novels. reading involves your mind trying to picture the setting, were it takes place, how it takes place and so on. try getting more involved with the books.

sometimes you just have to be determined to read the book, but determination stems from your principles for reading the book- why do you want to read it? you should ask yourself that, and not just in a small outlook but as a larger outlook on life- motivation is key
