Who knows? Sometimes I fall to sleep before I turn off the light, & it makes no difference. If you're speaking literally of the deep sleep required for dreams, in all my research, I've not found that light or shadow impacts the dream, as the dimension has too great a depth to know. Metaphorically? Dreams are accessed in shadow or in light. Neither has a significant meaning.

I dream with the shadow to my back. It allows and fosters dreams. If there was light in my eyes, there would be no need for dreams.

I would rather dream with a light in my eyes rather than a shadow from my back. Light symbolizes knowledge of good and bad. I could differentiate which path am going to. It serves us a guide in making my roadmap to happiness. The shadow from my back should be left in there. It will serve as a trash for bad moments in me.

If you are talking about sleep dreaming I want the light to be shining away from me and nothing to my back, spent to many years in combat, light in my eyes means the enemy can see me, shadow to my back means the light is in my eyes. If you are talking about dream of the future, I don't want to be blinded by the light, I want to see the road forward.

If I have the shadow to my back, that means that I have the light in front of me. I guess your question is whether one faces light or darkness in dreams. I experience both in my dreams.

Frequently when I dream I am as stupid as a brick and as gullible as a fish with bait in front of him. Your question demands too much coherence for the dream state and comprehension. As regards the consciousness for light and dark, it seems completely absent.
The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative, that's about as specific as it gets....a little color from time to time, but not much.
