We are in the middle of a remodel, and my little girls' birthday party is approaching and we're not finished yet, I can't really have people inside for a party with a construction zone going on! My husband does floors, and we're going to paint ourselves - Can I help him do the lower portions of the room as long as the windows are open and it's well ventilated? I wouldn't be on a ladder or anything!

In response to the guy who said the paint has to be water based, not latex- he is confused, latex is good, lead based is not.
Keep the windows open, step out every once in a while to get some fresh air and enjoy your beautiful new paint!

It's totally ok to paint while you're pregnant, as long as the windows are open and there's ventilation, just as you said.

I painted our bathroom when I was 8 months pregnant and did just fine. I would take breaks every 30 minutes and step outside for a while.

As long as you're painting with water based paints you'll be fine.
If you feel the slightest bit dizzy or light headed go outside and get some fresh air.
Take lots of breaks and don't strain yourself.
Have fuN!

If you are concerned you can wear a face mask for extra protection. But besides that run a couple of fans and keep the doors and windows open and you should be fine.

My ob/gyn told me it was okay as long as the room is well ventilated. Just as a side note, she told me after the first trimester i was able to dye my hair... which in the past i was always told was a no-no... talk to your ob.... see what they think.. most offices are very good about addressing your concerns!

I think that if the paint is water-based (not latex) and the area is ventilated, then you should be able to paint.

the smell isn't good for you. but there is something you can put in the pain to make it not smell so bad. i think its vanilla extract. call like home depot or other paint carrying stores to see if they know. or look it up online. as for the physical motions i'm not sure.
