The pains could be due to any number of things:

Menstrual-type cramps are common throughout pregnancy, or they could be braxton-hicks practice contractions.

Gas is also common and might cause you to have pains until it passes.

Other abdominal pain could be caused by something you ate, or a stomach bug that will run its course.

Sharp pains on your sides could be "round ligament pain" which is common in pregnancy when the uterus begins to stretch and grow. It almost feels like a really bad side ache.

It depends on what type of pains they are. When I was experiencing round ligament pain, it would come and go throughout the day and throughout the week. But I agree with the previous person. It could be gas, it could be something not agreeing with your stomach. I wouldn't worry too much unless it's accompanied by really painful cramping.
