Interestingly enough, the number of hairs on a human scalp varies with hair color

COLOR AVG NUMBER OF HAIRS
Blonde 146,000
Black 110,000
Brunete 100,000
Red 86,000

Also diameter also varies some-what with hair color

COLOR DIAMETER
Blonde 17-51 micrometers
Black 64-100 micrometers
Brunette variable
Red variable

Well, hope that gives you a good enough answer

Hiya,

According to eNotes, which cites several books on growing hair, the average number of hairs on the human head is about 100,000. Of course, the number varies by thickness.

The site "Hair to Go" claims that the number of hairs on a head also varies by hair color. Blondes have about 140,000 strands and redheads have about 90,000. I'm not sure if this is true or just an urban legend. Either way, it does make interesting dinner conversation.

It depends on the genetics and age of the individual. Young people usually have a lot but you will find a lot of bald people in their later years. Some races of people have more hair than others.

The number ranges from 100000 to 200000 depending on hair thickness as well as color of hair (now that's interesting...).

Of course one has to wonder if they counted each hair one by one ^.^
