I hate that, I run for the plunger and usually the water just stops at the top of the rim, the Gods must like me.

The Washer In the Water Supply Pipe The other end Of the Float Arm Is Knackered so You Need To Turn Off the Water & Remove The Arm And Dissemble The Tap Unit & Fit a New Washer (Costing Pence !) Then Re-Assemble The Unit. Replace The Float Arm, And Reset The Small Stop Nuts which Control The distance the Float Is Allowed To Move In The Cistern,ie Controlling the amount Of Water The Cistern Uses To Flush the Toilet Pan... Take The Opportunity To Go A Little Greener By Putting A Stone In the Cistern Which Will Reduce The Water Consumption. If this Doesn't Work.. Change the Float Arm & Tap Assembly Completely.. OK ? " Good Plumbing ! It's Easy!!

1. take off the lid to the toilet tank & set it down.
2. lift up on that thingie that makes the water stop running with your right hand.
3. shut off the water to the toilet with your left hand.
4. use plunger on clog.
5. turn water back on & flush

I might not know what that thingie is called, but I know what to do!
