I bought an Xbox 360 yesterday and my family thinks it's okay for everyone to play it. The problem is - I take good care of my video game consoles but I really don't trust anyone else in my family using my Xbox 360. How do I tell them I don't want them playing it?

Well they are pretty expensive.....my son has one....this is his second. Why not buy a television set and take it into your room. I dont think you are being selfish....it probably took you a long time to save up for one and you certainly dont want it destroyed....plus you did buy it for your entertainment. I know my son has met many people via XBox live and he plays online games with them on a regular basis, so if I were to monopolize his XBox it would impinge on his "friendships" and the points he would get. Maybe explain to your family that you dont mind them playing the XBox, but you would like to get accumstomed to it first then you will invite them to play when it suits you when you are not using it. Maybe even suggest that you will contribute some of the broadband expense. Maybe your family dont realise that the XBox 360 is a pretty high tech piece of computer technology and not just a cheap gaming device. If they like it so much, then maybe they should buy one for themselves. Do you monopolize their computer? Well, this is your computer, so maybe taking it into your room would be the best option. Im sure your family wouldnt begrudge you your own entertainment......Im sure they have theirs that you dont interfer with. You just need to explain it to them....they probably dont really know what it's all about. They also probably dont realise that the XBox will introduce you to all kinds of people worldwide.....so it's not just a game machine, it has the potential to teach you lots of things about other cultures. My son actually met his girlfriend on X Box.....she's from New Jersey (we live in Australia) and she's over here now. My son was a pretty withdrawn sort of a guy, but he has really come out of his shell since he got his XBox 360, so I havent got a bad thing to say about it.

You need to share. You're a family, that what your supposed to do. What's more important, your game or your family? If it bothers you so much, just be there when someone else is playing it and explain to them how it needs to be treated. Tell them to be careful. But you need to share. Next year you won't care who plays it because some new video game will come out and you'll want it. So learn to share now, so when you get another game you won't have this problem.

i can understand- they are not cheap,u probably spent ur money on it - but on the other hand u sound a little stingy/selfish - i had older bros. that never let me.i begged&promised to play and not break "their things" even said they can change the game etc...but it was theirs. why not set up limited and supervised playing times-talk to ur parents it will show them alot of maturity on ur part. its up to u!!!

Did you also buy the tv it's hooked up to? And all the games that go into it? And...btw, do you go to the fridge whenever you want? Or use the washer/dryer? Did you buy those too? Or are they for the family?

Grow up!

I certainly hope that you are under 18. If you are an adult in this household, you may want to figure out why you are so possessive of material goods.

that's really mean of you. If you can't even trust your family with a stupid video game, then just get rid of it
