You have a big baby! Ask your baby's doctor if this weight is within average of how long she is.I think nothing is wrong though.

You don't say if you're breast or bottle feeding. My only exclusively breastfed baby nursed constantly and was in the 45% for height and the 95% for weight. He was just a little Booby Baby who loved the comfort and peace of nursing. My bottle fed baby and my bottle/breastfed baby were both little porkers, too. The bottle fed baby and the breastfed baby both thinned out in their early toddler months, and the combo baby if almost 11 months now and has been walking for a month and he's already started to slim a little since he's more active.

I'm a supporter of demand feeding and if she's hungry, I say feed her. I wouldn't give a baby that young any solids no matter how hungry she was. Their digestive systems just aren't ready for it yet. Besides, if she's hungry that means that her body needs nourishment. If you fill her up with cereal, she won't be hungry but she wouldn't get the nutrients she needs. Breastmilk is the supreme food for babies, and formula is a close second. They have the vitamins and minerals needed for growth, all in the right proportions. Cereal is a distant...10th. :) Think of it this way. If you want to lose weight, you'd fill up on salad or a big fiber filled apple before meals. You'd be less hungry, but consume fewer calories in the long run. That is what you'd be doing if you gave her cereal. You'd be filling her stomach, but not meeting her nutritional needs.

As others here have said, babies know when to eat and when to stop eating. Let her have her own way. :)

My son is the same age (born May 25), and was at the doctor on Tuesday...weighed in at 16 lbs, 1 oz. Doctor said that if he is still feeding on demand to try to stretch feedings to at least 2 hours in between. (He used to be really spuratic...going 3 hours, then every hour, etc).
Anyway, my son't weight gain has slowed down, and he has been more laid back about his feedings for the last couple of weeks. So I think it was just a really big growth spurt. But he refuses to take a pacifier, and will only take a bottle if he is really hungry. I have noticed that often when he appears hungry, he just needs to be soothed.

My daughter is almost 5 months and weighs 15 and 2 ounces.. She was 9 at birth... If I were you I would contact her doctor. I wouldn't be asking people on here what do to. about that. (not saying people dont give good advice, but that's something I personally would wont me and my doctor to decided)

anyways I do know someone that was in the same boat as you.

My cousins baby was eating ALOT like that, and her doctor told her to go ahead and put rice in her bottle. and it helped her out alot. it cut out like 2 bottles. (6-8oz) each. But not ever doctor would agree with that. I believe rice needs to be feed with a spoon. but I also dont believe that the baby should be eating that much... Like i said contact her doctor.

if you're nursing don't stop and put her on formula because your baby is def getting enough. mhy son just cam back from the doc tuesday for his 4 month check up and just hit 15 pounds and 25 1/2 inches and the doc says he is thriving.. maybe she is not hungry but looking for some soothing method or something to do. my son did go through a growth spurt at that age though.

Feed her when she's hungry! But make sure she doesn't want the bottle or breast just for something to suck on. My daughter would be completely happy attached to my breast all day, but it's just because she wants to suck. Sucking is the only way they know to comfort themselves when they are this young (and is their main comfort method until about 2 years old). Does she take a pacifier? If so, give that to her first!

You should be feeding her more formula or giving her the breast more frequently. She's probably hit a growth spurt and needs the extra calories.

Don't give her cereal at this point, it will do her a lot of harm in the long run. I know it seems like nothing will satisfy, but it will. She shouldn't have solids until she's 6 months for all sorts of reasons and never never put it in her bottle she could choke. Don't give her water either, she gets enough from formula & breast milk.

She sounds like a healthy happy baby, my cousins baby was 20 lbs at 3.5 months ... he turned out great! If you're seriously concerned take her to your doctor. Good luck!

Sometimes a child is just thirsty if it's not time for the next bottle give her a little water. They also feed there tummy when it hurts maybe she needs an easier to digest formula. Don't put her on cereal she is to young. She also may just want the soothing from sucking try a pacifier....

Make sure you burp her well cause gas will make them feel hungry. Unless you ask your ped don't give her but a sip or 2 of water cause at that age they don't need alot of it.
