If you mean what are we here on earth to do, our mission so to speak, then that requires a God.
If we reject God, then by purpose we can only mean some things that we can do that will help us get through life in the face of the overwhelming pointlessness of life. There are a number of psychological techniques. First keep busy so we won't think about the pointlessness of it all. Second, focus on happy thoughts. Third, do something praiseworthy, praise ourselves and imagine others praising us so we can inflate our ego. A good example of the last one is kolya k above who says, "The purpose of human life is to improve and perfect the human society...", a feel-goodism if ever there was one.
Oh, and evolution cannot make survival nor reproduction nor existing nor passing on our genes into purpose. Evolution is a mindless natural process that can no more give purpose to us than a snowstorm can give purpose to a snowdrift.

The purpose of human life is to improve and perfect the human society so that our civilization (together with all the other ones that exist in the world) could bring order and system into the universe, which is now in the state of chaos. This is the eternal struggle between order and chaos.
Don't believe the religious people - they are stupid and don't understand anything.

I believe the point to human life has become difficult to define as we have "advanced". Our world has become much more forgiving and survival less and less difficult. Humans are unique from other beings due to our intellectual capacities among many other things, but this has enabled us to imagine the world the way we see fit. We no longer view food as a source of life but rather a pleasure or experience, or our homes merely as shelters from the elements. Modern luxuries have relieved us of our daily struggles to stay alive, unlike our animal counterparts, and have left us searching for other things to fill the gap. Many animal species spend up to 90% of their lives searching for food and have no room for much else ( Sadly enough I am sure there are some people, very few I am sure, who do the same whether it be for necessity or pleasure.) The burden of survival being lifted has freed us up to virtual anything we desire. I think the point of "human life" is to do what ever interests you, whether it be learning, socializing, surfing... My personal quest in life is to accomplish, maybe it is just a subconcious drive built into me as result of evolution or my survival instinct redirected, whatever the reason it makes me happy and gives a sense of purpose to my life. My view on life is very complicated and hard to externalize, it runs so deep into my mind I doubt anyone could fully understand... My thoughts stated here, to use a cliche, are merely the tip of the iceberg.

To reach nirvana, break the cycle of reincarnation, to free your mind! Only then can you be at peace with yourself. Only then can you find your own purpose in life.
