If they are still being used at your school you can put up a flyer in the buildings in which the classes are taught for the subject matters of your books. You could put some up in the dorms or get the word out to people you know who will be taking those courses.

First off, you should buy your books from Amazon.com or Half.com, or check them out at your school's library (you'd have to do that as soon as possible to beat out everyone else). Amazon and Half will have them for much lower than your bookstore, so when you sell them back to the school, you won't lose as much money. If you check them out at the library, they're free! Also, when selling them back, you have a few options. You can sell them back to your school (you probably won't get too much, especially if the book isn't being used the next semester or if there are updated editions), but if you sell it back to the school, you should try to do it as soon as possible. I used to sell mine back right before the final exam, because most people at my school did it right after the exam. However, I would recommend selling them on Amazon or Half. You'd be much more likely to get more money for it, maybe even getting back as much as you paid for it if you used those websites to get the books.

Definitely do not sell them back to your school. You won't get hardly anything from them. I buy my books from Half.com and if they don't have the books I need, I go to my college's bookstore and buy them used. Then I sell them at Half.com. Another great option mentioned above is to put up a flyer and advertise the books for half off.

If you going to the same school, maybe you can put up a sign on one of the bulletin boards that you are willing to sell your books for maybe 1/2 price. The only other option is, donate them to a charity and them you can use that as a tax write off (assuming that you do your own taxes) and are not on your parents' tax return. Good Luck!!

It is a long shot but some textbook stores actually will buy them back, so that they can resell them as low cost alternatives to new editions. If you bought them in an actual bookstore, I would check with them (Barnes and Noble in New York City, for example, does this).

make a facebook or myspace account & advertise your books on there. There's plenty of college students who are willing to buy your books for a cheaper price than what the bookstore are charging the students for

A lot of colleges set up booths where you can sell your books back. Just to let you know though, you won't be getting much of a return.
