Hi, I have a 94 Honda Accord. I went to get the oil change on the car. The guy said he couldn't change it ,because something near or on the oil filter was leaking. Anyway, I was not able to repair the car at the time.I had been putting motor oil in it ,when it wouldn't start . It worked fine for about two weeks. Recently, It would not start;so I put 2 bottles of motor oil in it and it still will not start. Can anyone help? I'm trying to save money up for the repair. Does anyone know if this is a major problem? Can anyone tell me what I can do just to drive to the repairman?

First of all, you may have put too much oil in your car.
While your car engine is cool, pull the oil dipstick out of the tube and wipe clean with a paper towel. Put the dipstick back in and out and check the level while holding the dipstick angled downward. Oil only lubricates the valve train and rotating assembly of the vehicle. Not part of the starting or ignition system (what makes the car start and gives the fuel spark to detonate).

As far as it not starting, there are several places on the car to look to try and diagnose the problem. Have someone turn the key over to start. Two things to check: *Spark and fuel.*

If the car sounds like it wants to start, but won't:

While someone is cranking it, pull a spark plug wire off the distributor cap just enough to see if there is a spark jumping from the cap to the wire. Also see what color it is: blue is strong, orange is weak. No spark means either a dist. rotor, cap, or coil is bad.

If that checks out okay, you may not be getting fuel to the engine. Possible causes: fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, wiring problem going to the pump.

If not really sure what to do, call a local auto parts store. Most parts specialists are willing to help rule out possibilities. Let me know how everything checks out!

These are only a few possible causes for it not wanting to start.

If it tries to start, but is sluggish, it could be the battery. Have it charged at an auto parts place. It is free there. Preferably O'Reilly's if you have one nearby.

First be sure that you didn't over fill the oil level. If you have over filled the engine with oil that might cause the not to start but not for sure. Your best bet would be to take it to mechanic and either get a loan to pay for the repairs or try and find a mechanic that will work with you on payment. You apparently have something seriously wrong with your car. Good luck.

was this guy a friend or a mechanic. If he was a mechanic I cannot understand why he would not find out what was leaking and advise you. Take the money you are putting into oil and have the leak fixed.

Please call a wrecker tow and quit driving the car until it is fixed and you got bad advice from the oil change '''dude''' --- your car is in the shape that you must resort to the bus for the time it takes to save for the repair ----- unseen that is all you can do for NOW ..... sorry but it is serious fixin's to the ride .....

i would start by checking the spark plugs...they can go bad and the car won't start.....they only cost a few bucks if you replace them yourself

since it is making the crank sound, it seems as though your starter is fine. meaning your engine isnt firing, usually the sparkplugs. first check the connections.
