I believe this is original.
God, knowing that soon he would have to discipline the "devil", made man in hopes we would prove to the "D" that even lowly creatures like us would love Him/God.
Further in hopes that the "D" would turn from his ways, but alas we could not and the "D" did not repent.
We proved nothing and because He/God loves us He sent His Son to save us from ourselves.
