This answer should not only help you, it may help some of the people who answered above. Doing a system restore should not be taken lightly. It is NOT the end all. (Or it could be in the wrong sense) System restore only restores the system, not data! When you delete a photo from the recycle bin it becomes very hard to retrieve. Although the photo hasn't been physically removed from your computer, the Delete command has told the File Allocation Tables (FAT) to make the space available on your disk. The very next time you use your computer for any reason, this available space MAY be overwritten with completely new data. I say MAY, because your hard disk writes new data in a totally random way, so the photos may continue to survive, or they may not. The more you use your computer, the less chances you have. Pedo's get caught because the FBI can do a deep scan which will pick up traces of stuff that existed a long time ago. Hard disks are like tape recorders. When you add new material over the old, some of the old can still be heard, but not by an untrained human ear. They say a hard disk can be written over two or three times but still produce evidence for the authorities to use against you. This doesn't affect the average Joe, because the Feds aren't belting down our doors. The technology available to you in the way of software, does not allow you to do deep scans. I have recovered stuff from formatted hard disks, but even so, the results are only average. There are some free undeleters out there, but you will have to be very keen to attempt it. Just doing the scan can take hours, finding the files you want from the thousands of deleted files can take longer. By all means download one of these free programs and give it a try. Unfortunately many free undeleters find your files, but won't undelete them until you pay money. I can't help you with any names, but just do a google on free file recovery.

Find Deleted Pictures On Computer

Yes, you need a special program for that. And the programs are very expensive. One I heard of is Ontrack Recovery Pro. I am not sure of the price. This program is mostly used by professionals.

Another option would be, is if you have system restore turned on and had it turned on when you deleted the pictures. It might be possible to take your computer back to a restore point prior to you deleting the files off the system.

If you know you have system restore turned on under MyComputer, right click, chose Properties and look at the System Restore (tab). If there is NO check mark in "Turn off System Restore". Then close that, and head to START/ PROGRAMS / ACCESSORIES /SYSTEM TOOLS / SYSTEM RESTORE . Chose to restore the computer to a prior date. Scroll through the calender and chose a date with a restore point on it prior to you deleting the pictures.

Keep in mind, that if you have added more pictures, documents etc.. to your computer since deleting the pictures, and you chose an older date to restore the computer to, you will lose that data from the date you chose out of system restore up until todays date. So before you restore the computer and if there is something important you want to save, you need to burn it to a disk, and then restore your system to a prior date.

Good Luck

Card Recovery in 3 Steps!

chances are they have been accidentally moved or deleted but you can recover deleted files using a file recovery program, search file recovery although some are available free some are better than others http://www.001-software.com/file-recovery/

i used this one and have recovered files that were deleted a good few years ago. but the longer you wait the harder it will be to recover as file are deleted the icon is removed from windows but the file is still on the disc or drive and with time the file becomes over written. so the sooner you try to recover the better.

If you haven't done a backup of the photos, then I would suggest doing a system restore. And once you have them back, immediately do a backup!! Always!
