I find myself without a right foot now and need to drive to work. I'm hoping it is possible to convert a 5 speed manual transmission to an automatic transmission. Google gave me no answers and I have no idea where to start.
Is it even possible to do? Any idea of cost? Time needed?
Thanks

Its possible, if the car you have had an available auto transmission. Find a donor car at a salvage yard, talk to the people if they could do or know someone who would do the swap. Without knowing what you drive, my wild guess would be $ 2500 for the parts and labor to do the swap on a front engine rear wheel drive. On a front wheel drive car the whole front assembly might have to be changed out and the cost would be higher. I agree with others in this post, less trouble to trade the car for an automatic.

It's quite easy to do. You find the same car in the junkyard, with the automatic transmission, and then you swap everything that's different.

Finding a person who'll do that for you is another matter. That's hard. Most people that do these kinds of modifications do them at home. At least I do

There is a lot involved with the change over. I don't know if it would be worth the time and the trouble to do this. Is this a temproary condition or is it permanent? If it is permanent, then just trade cars. If it is a temporary condition, then rent a car for a month or so. You may be able to work out a deal with a car rental company. Good luck to you.
