Scary movies are meant to scare the audience, but fear is subjective and what scares you might not scare someone else. While some people might be afraid to watch Friday the 13 movies, others might live for it and watch it over and over again. Even some movies like Alien may be scary for some people while others cannot wait for a sequel. What scares you today, most likely will not scare you tomorrow. So enjoy the stories now, once you get older you see the same stories in a different light and scrutinize them too much, thus missing the whole point of listening a story.

I remember loving the scary stories when I was younger because they were so scary. As I got older, the stories were no longer scary and I had to move onto scarier and scarier movies. I must say though, no matter what age you are, there are surely some scary movies out there that will always make you feel like someone is following you when you go to bed at night!

I'm a big baby when it comes to scary things.
I can't even watch the Haunted Mansion from Disney!
These kids I was babysitting turned it on, and I just looked at the window the whole time.
Scary words, music, pictures, stories, movies.. anything.

I grew up with 3 older sibs , so i grew out of it real quick. Learning how to handle scaryness in real life is an acquired art- -skill, that not all of us master. The "movie" scariness can help you prepare for it. But the real experience is something entirely different.
Sound like you're handling just fine right now.

Yes, I used to get very scared. So scared I couldn't sleep. And, yes, I did grow out of it. My neighbor helped me when she said, "it's a tv show, it's not real". Same with stories. I think you and I see things vividly in our minds and it scares us more than some other people.

I still get scared but I'm a sucker. I'm 22 and am still scared of movies and scary stories but am drawn to them, I love them. I love them more when they're true.

I did get scared when I watched a documentary about ghosts that supposedly inhabit an old sanatorium in Kentucky.
