No i don't think thats misogynistic.

as far i as i know men's boobs don't attract alot of attention in public but if you were to walk around without covering yours I am sure you will attract alot of attention.

I think its not fair when people say ohhh there just guys and they can do what ever they wanna do, but you cant because youre a girl. What the heck is that suppose to mean. Its stupid how people these days treat guys much differently than girls. Girl, who cares what people think. If you wanna walk around with your shirt off do it! Don't care what people think about you. For as long as I know screw what people say. Be youre own person and do what makes you happy. Dont live your life by trying to impress others.

I wish I could find a way to make this short and sweet, bet there are so many factors that would be impossible.. "bare" with me...

In america, the female breast is seen as a sexual body part, even though in the majority of other cultures it is not, for many reasons it is here in the USA, (for why check out the documentary "Busting Out", it's all about the american fascination with the female breast http://www.bullfrogfilms.com/catalog/bust.html )

Also, America was founded on the religious fundamentalism of the puritans, who urged that any expression of sexuality (such as the female breast among other things) should be outlawed from society, interestingly enough, even WITHIN the construct of marriage, hence all the leftover ridiculous laws like no one can have oral sex in west virginia or tennessee, and I'm pretty sure sodomy is outlawed in all 50 states, though i could be wrong on that.....i digress...

Anyway, basically because the female breast is seen as a part of sexuality, and our panties-in-a-twist american culture has at one point or another outlawed all forms of sexual expression, including exposure.

Another interesting point of history is that most western societies considered female virginity and purity as an asset to be protected, either by the female herself (as seen today) or by the male authority figure, usually the father, hence dowries, and rape restitution laws being paid not to the woman, but to her husband or father.

One could argue that the "indecent exposure" laws that were put in place are also to protect that female purity. think about it... if a man flashes himself (genitals) in a public place where women are present? he gets a fine, possibly jail time. BUT! if in a locker room or men's restroom (exposed urinals abounding) in the company of men where female purity is unthreatened? no one thinks anything of it.

I get that women too expose themselves in locker rooms (though MUCH less then men) but not in restrooms at all.

In essence, the exposed male chest does not threaten to "de-purify" women because it is not considered sexual in nature, while the exposed female chest, does threaten the purity of the woman who is exposed.

Yep VERY misogynistic, the patriarchy is alive and well.

Neither of us should have to cover up. The breast is not sexual in nature, and therefore should not be subjected to such sexual based laws, the same way men's chests aren't.

But even if we do want to consider it sexual? fine. Why are we denying ourselves of healthy sexual expression....Countries with less sexual censorship have lower rates of sexual abuse, why don't we see that?

Because society will turn anything possible into something sexual. I don't see why breasts are sexual, their only purpose is to breast feed.

Some people will say 'it's because men don't have anything there!'...but they're forgetting men with man boobs. I see MANY of those men walking around without their shirts on.

Honestly I wouldn't walk around shirtless anyway, though. I don't need any creepy pervs staring at my boobs.

That's a really good question. But what I want to know is how come it's never good-looking men- it's always guys with back hair. From a distance, you wonder why someone would be wearing a coat in the summer but as you get closer you realize the awful truth...

hahaha.. man boobs

I really thought about this and at first agreed and was going to note how much fun I had in South Beach (topless beach portion)

But then I remembered how some men were there to ogle women (the remarks they made!!! Eww!!!)... I think if it were "safe" for us to walk around topless, we would...

The reality, however, is that so many people (not how I did not say men) would abuse and take advantaged of this...

:)

I completely agree. With the Western view of a Woman's so-called "Respect", what with feminists saying they have the 'right' to expose their own bodies, they might as well walk around naked too. In fact, don't we have the right to have male reproductive organs too? What about the right to be a man? This is blatantly unfair.

Women always seem to be JEALOUS and ENVIOUS that men can walk around in public with our shirts off. Of course, I only recommend men that work out to do so. I have a toned physique; I jog with my shirt off all the time.

The way I see it -- women have so many perks regarding freedoms to express themselves with clothing; can us men at least GET ONE THING? When I walk in to the mall, like 75% of the stores are geared towards women. Like 15% are for both men and women, and the other 10% will be for men.

Walk around any major city in America with your shirt off and boobs hanging out, and chances are you'd either get arrested, or people will at least give you a hard time everywhere you go.

Women have their perks, men have theirs. Women, stop trying to get all of the perks men get. What pisses me off is how women spend so much time trying to rectify advantages men have, while simultaneously wanting to maintain the status quo regarding women's advantages. Are you misandristic?

I really believe that most women cover their stuff because they choose to do so. As far as I'm concerned they could take their shirts off anytime they want to.

who says; if a woman is in her backyard bushes or not she can go around topless if she feels the need too.
Or in a nudist section of the country, well isn't it up to her whether she does this or not?!

I have I will and continue on as I see fit. Thank-you very much!

cheers!
