I want a snake that doesn't get too huge and can eat frozen thawed out mice. I also want one that is good for beginners yet cheap. I would also want a snake that will not bite and that i can find at a local pet store such as PetSmart.

A ball python.
Great for beginners, remain generally small, eat frozen/thawed food (if they don't, they are easily trained to), easy to handle, docile and BEAUTIFUL.
I've seen them (babies? 1 1/2 feet) at PetSmart.
Whatever snake you get, do your homework first. Read up on heat, humidity, substrate, feeding and handling necessities.
Good luck and have fun!

Garter snakes are great. They get MAX 3 ft but usually grow to about 2 feet. They eat goldfish most of their lives and you can get them pinkies too. (Frozen or Live) They like a semi tropical setting and a water dish because they like the water. Compared to some snakes they arent that expensive either. Most pet stores will carry them too. (My local petco carries them).

If you want a snake that stays on the small side and is good for beginners I'd suggest a ball python. They are pretty too :)

Good ? Definetely not a burmese... those can get to 18 feet long!A ball python is really good. Very docile.Royal pythons don't get that big either. I'd go with the latter because they really never bite. Let me know how it goes!
