People around here are already preparing to evacuate (some are actually evacuating) and the hurricane hasn't even entered the gulf yet.

If you live on the gulf coast, are preparing to evacuate? I don't want to unless I absolutely have to, but I probably will leave for Dean; He's already a cat 3.

I thank GOD that I live in California where we never get hurricanes. But I used to work for a mortgage insurance company where we would be put on red alert every time one of those nasty things cropped up.

My advice is if you are anywhere near the path of the coming Hurricane Dean, that you evacuate sooner than later. If it becomes mandatory and you're still there, you'll be fighting for the roads with every other Tom, Dick and Harry trying to run for their lives. If you stay, use your good judgement and take all necessary precautions to prepare to ride out the storm.

Good luck.

I guess it pays to be prepared after the Katrina disaster. We are dealing with Erin right now where I live. Just a depression, but lots of rain.

I'm in So. Florida... and I'm more scared of what's going to follow Dean. This is only the beginning... and that's the real scary part.

I wish you luck... be safe and careful...
