Welcome2Womanhood! Your mom will be so proud!

1. Pads, definitely, until you gain experience in using tampons. Give yourself time, you have plenty of it.

2. Luckily, I had two older sisters so I knew what was happening. On August 16, 1977 (yes, the day Elvis died), I came in from school and noticed my underpants were brown. Well, I knew what it was and did what I was supposed to do, and went to talk to my mom. She had been in my shoes and knew I would have a lot of questions and it pleased her that I was able to be so foward with my questions to her. I have shared with my oldest daughter the same, she was 9 when she started, and my youngest is about to be 11 and it will not be too long before she also needs the attention.

It took about a year for my cycles to regulate after they first started and when they did, I was always, consistently 3 days early every month. Even after I had children, my cycles regulated again to being 3 days early. I no longer have them and in a way I miss them, but the first time is a special time for a young woman and her mother to be able to sit and talk about what could be a very frightening experience otherwise.

(You may or may not get another period next month, it can take a year or more for you to become fully regulated. Focus on symptoms and carry extra protection in the case of an accident).

3. NO NO...tell mom! She knows exactly what you are going through, the excitement, the anxiety, and she can answer any form of question you throw at her. Then, tell sis.

4. It is a private matter, but it is YOURS and yours alone, and it will be entirely up to you to relate information to your friends.

5. (My own answer) ))))HUGS((((
you are special! The parentheses are backwards to make wings to fly the hugs to you!

Congratulations! Welcome to womanhood. This is the start of a wonderful and exciting new phase in your life. It's natural to be a little freaked out and upset, but don't worry, every woman on earth has been through it too and will be very symapthetic.
1) Definitely start with pads. Save the tampons for when you absolutely can't wear the pads - swimming, gymnastics, etc. Be sure to get unbleached tampons, because the bleached tampons can cause TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome), a very scary and serious conditions. It's rare, but women have died from it, so change the tampons frequently and don't ever forget/lose one inside of you. Pads really aren't that noticeable and should suffice for most of your "feminine protection" needs.

2) I had bad diarrhea and stomach cramps that month, so I almost wasn't sure what was happening till I saw the blood dripping. I was actually kinda pleased, and felt it was like a secret spell that linked me to the cycle of life and other women - I remember I had just read Anne Frank and she described it as a "sweet secret".

3) Definitely tell your mom, she'll find out eventually anyway. If you're embarassed to to say it, you can write it in a note with any questions or requests you may have, or have your older sister pass along the message.

4) Telling your friends is up to you. Be careful to only tell friends you trust; some girls may be tempted to gossip and spread the information. Your friends can provide support and advice, but keep in mind that they may not have all the facts or may be unknowingly perpetuating myths/rumors that they have heard. Doctors and adult women are a far more reliable source of information.

You should wear pads most of the time for the first few periods or until you get used to wearing tampons. My mom didn't learn how to use them until she was a senior year in high school. Which would stink...but anyways.

I would tell your mom first and then your sister if you want. They can both help you and understand what you are going through.

My period story is: I woke up at about 6 in the morning and had a really bad stomach ache. I went to the bathroom thinking that I was sick, but I wasn't. So was going to pee and then go back to bed. This may sound nasty, but when I wiped I saw blood. I didn't know what to do, so I went back to bed. When I woke up I got it again, so I called my mom and she had to come home to get me pads. The bad thing was I was going to my pool with my best girl friend and my best guy friend that day...

You might want to tell your best friend/s. But its up to you. The day I got mine I called my friend and told her and she gave me tips on what to do so i could swim. I wore a pad in my bathing suit and shorts over it. It works, but I wouldn't advise doing it. Too risky.

I would highly recommend tampons over pads! I used tampons from my very first period. I never thought they were difficult to insert or uncomfortable. You don't even feel them. The 2 or 3 times I had to wear a pad (I wasn't unprepared and had to borrow) it felt like wearing a diaper. And, in my opinion, they are so messy- YUCK! Who needs that? You just need to remember to not leave one in for longer than 8 hours.

I would recommend that you tell your mom. She can give you more details about what to do, and what to expect. Remember, she has been through it too. And in all likeliness, she's expecting it- so it probably won't be a big surprise.

You dont have to tell your friends hunni its what u feel comfy doing ok its nothing to be ashamed off your growing up xxxxxxxxxxx

I would wear pads, you can practise with tampons a bit later on.IT can take some getting used to

I got my period a few years ago.I had a sore stomach, and diddent think anything of it( know i knw it was cramps)went to the toilit, saw a bit of blood in my underwear. Was a bit shocked, went out and told my friend who was around.

How shoudl you tell your mum?I just walked up to her in the kitchen when she was getting dinner ready and said"well i have my period"...luckily she had bought supplies a few months ago.

and its up to you if you want to tell your friends, the periods not a huge deal,so it wouldnt be huge news to your friends.

1. Ask your mom what she thinks. I would start with pads and then move to tampons.
2. umm... I got mine on my birthday. I was birthday shopping with my mom at the mall and I was trying on swimsuits and I saw I got my period.
3. Well i would ask your sister and just say to your mom I got my period.
4. I would tell my closest friends.
