Its employees donated over $150,000 toward his candidacy. According to AP writers M Glover and J Kuhnhenn and the Washington Post, he claims to have been unaware this hedge fund was connected to sub prime lenders Green Tree Servicing and National Mortgage. Now that the Wall Street Journal has identified 34 New Orleans homes they are in the process of foreclosing on, is this a form of accepting special interest money? He is the antipoverty candidate? He says he will sell his investment in this Fortress Group. Should he give back the contributions and consulting fees?

I guess some of you are unaware of the crisis facing the financial markets all over the world because of hedge funds and how central banks are trying to pump up liquidity in the banking industry. In the first debate Edwards said he did not know how hedge funds operate. They are not regulated either.

Taniya, I have an MBA and you direct me to an advertisement. I get enough junk mail for investing that I do not read.

He earned the consulting fees and is entitled to them. Perhaps it would be a good political move to donate the money to a charity that tries to help the homeless or stop foreclosures.

As far as the contributions, if they were collected in connection with the hedge fund he should return them (although he is still entitled to them - I suggest this only for political reasons). If the hedge fund workers just donated the money on their own as private citizens and it had nothing to do with the hedge fund, he should keep the money.

Actually, he deserved way more then $470,512 in consulting fees. He probably reduced his normal fees and ended up just covering his expenses. Don't forget about all the consulting fees he has to pay out in order to campaign for President so he can help all the poor people. Private jets, first-class hotels, and dragging around an entourage don't come cheap.
He may very well have to sell his interest in the Fortress Group (as soon as the price is right) just to make ends meet.
Face guy, 400 grand is nothing to these people. And if you're going to start nit-picking about everybody that throws a few bucks his way what's he going to do? Get donations from the poor people he wants to help?

Selling his investments is all he really needs to do. He earned the consulting fees, and all presidential candidates need contributions, whether they're trying to help end poverty or not. If he were getting donations from Charles Manson, that would be one thing. From the Fortress Investment Group? I'm not too concerned.

I thought the job for him was "a learning experience." Aren't most interns who get the same "learning experience" unpaid, or paid very little? How could he have possibly provided enough value to the company to be worth that much money? This sounds a lot like the QB at OK getting paid by the car dealership.

Isn't it very frustrating that we learn all the dirty (secret?) details of these candidates? I am always flabbergasted to learn, how ignorant these self-anointed superior political "elitist" people are, assuming we cannot read and think on our own. And still, we vote for them. What a pity!
