Not all is illusion. There is reality too and Truth.
Still there is illusion there too. illusion is all what is based on fantasies in your head. If something comes from your solar plexus, you can be pretty sure this is no illusion.
The laws in this universe are no illusion. They do never change and they are real.
Our struggling with illusion might be based with our confusion what we truly are. Are we just a body or are we soul or spirit with a body? Intellectuals say that soul is illusion, whereas I consider it the other way round. Body and the brain will decay like an illusion, but the soul and spirit has access to the living power and eternity, which is no illusion. It takes a long path to actually realize that. A struggle between intellect and intuition.
My conclusion is that it is an illusion that we are just body with a brain. If you can get over that you might find access to reality.

illusion means
1.
a. An erroneous perception of reality.
b. An erroneous concept or belief.
2. The condition of being deceived by a false perception or belief.
3. Something, such as a fantastic plan or desire, that causes an erroneous belief or perception.

why would you think "all is an illusion"
while our reality is based on our perceptions of what occurs around and to us, and within our own minds and thoughts, these events are not illusions, in my opinion
and all of our perceptions are not erroneous, even defining that is difficult
it is easy to pick up catch phrases such as this, and those like "i think therefore i am", someone, sometime, someplace made the saying up, another human being just like us, how do we know we are not if we dont think? or that all is an illusion, etc
when we trip over that tree that fell in the woods (and didnt make a sound so did it happen?) and we smash our face and cry out in pain (which noone hears so is it real), we will really be in pain and wishing we had watched where we walked, and that is not illusion

Invalid question since it is not an illusion.

I can't understand where people get the crazy idea that reality is an illusion. Are your teachers saying this?!

If everything is illusion it is that way because we view it as such. So you could say that it is caused by our minds or in general; us. As for the Why we all can guess but no one knows.

Just pinch yourself and you will know that you are not an illusion.
Can you try this test on YOU because I don't want to hurt myself.

We're no more than a 'brain in a vat' with 'memories', 'ideas' and 'desires'; everything outside of 'us' is Maya.
