Life is not measured by the breaths we take, But by the moments that take our breath away,

Life is the beginning of the journey to death. A very chance opportunity.
All of the moments in between are made up of our own unique combination of experiences and choices.
We have no choice about being born and no choice but to die at the end.
Our individual belief systems will give us hope or leave us wanting.
We know -to a certain extent what went on before our individual life , and I hold that to a certain extent we will continue our consciousness about life after.(because we were a life ?)
I am trying to the point of ridiculous to be PC here.Perhaps I have gone too far . Perhaps not far enough. K.L.S.

U know... you've just asked the most fundamental question of philosophy. By answering this question we will automatically answer "Is life worth living?" and that is the whole thing. This is what philosophy of life is entitled to engage itself in.

O Brother! life is a moment. an interruption between two indefinites. It is a strait with nothingness (prenatal world) as its beginning and nothingness (posthumous world) as its end.
BUT,
These do not necessarily mean that it is nothing itself. to be honest, there are as many answers as the number of people on the face of earth. Its whatness depends on what you believe in. Do you believe in God? then life is your duty as a human being to do what He wants. Do you believe in "progress" in its Kantian definition? Then life is sacrifice for humanity. Even if you believe it is nothing--like me--then it is carpe diem.
Essentially, it has no definition and no meaning in itself. YOU are the one who gives meaning to it.

I would define life as an entity with internal mechanisms that promote it's own survival.

It is a walk on the road of self knowledge and self acceptance. It is a school of morals and individual priorities. It is a pretty emotional journey, that teaches you to love.

Me:Life is merely the flash of fireflies in the dark. Shakespeare: "We are such stuff as dreams are made of. And our little lives are rounded with a sleep." That's what I imagine, anyhow.

Life to me is a miracle.

~also~

The condition that distinguishes organisms from inorganic objects and dead organisms, being manifested by growth through metabolism, reproduction, and the power of adaptation to environment through changes originating internally.

I think that sums it up...
