I bought 5 pounds of mixed shells under 1 inch in size on Ebay for craftwork. There are about 15 to 20 different kinds of shells. I would like to find out the names of the various shells in the mix and any other information about them. Any ideas how I can find this information other than getting dozens of books and looking through them?

Here is a great website for anyone interested in shells:

http://www.seashell-collector.com/

There are many features including a shell identification page. If you can take a reasonably clear picture of your shells you can post it on the site, or post it somewhere else and post a message with a link, and some very knowledgeable people will identify your shells for you.
