iam french and native american, i live in britain, i came to the uk at 6 years old..
i dont look like my heritage, iam tanned and have deep blue eyes...this really bothers me, because i want my heritage to be prominant enough so it shows in my features, but it does'nt...

iam not white or british, im planning to emigrate from here, from the uk in the future..im 30 now,.
the problem here is brits around me are percieving me as being ''white'' and ''british'' which im not, and its really upseting me and making me angry.
i dont want to be catogorized by them, that iam british or one of them, when im not...im very true to my culture and patriotic to.
i have a major problem with how others are percieving me in britain....i can't wait to leave and emigrate, but i cant right now, because i have psychological problems to deal with right now.. and ive had a hard past, so i cannot go any place right now..but i do want to leave the uk.
how can i deal with how the brits are percieving me

Be at peace. You expect too much of strangers. They cannot know what you carry within you. Understand this and be tolerant if people seek to identify with you -- they do so simply to reach out and have a commonality with you. They do not try to identify with who you are (or who you feel you are) to be negative toward you. Accept that strangers cannot know that this upsets you when they meet you -- you are a stranger to them, as they are to you. Good luck.

I don't understand why you are putting down the Brit'slike you are doing. The British, are one of the Best Allies the Americans have and do have...they have been the at the forefront, in Fashion...their music in beyond compare, producing some of the best world wide known music artists ever to perform..The Who, The Beatles, The Stones, Ten Years After...They produced Benny Hill lol...I am sorry, I have always had an extreme fondness, and respect for the British...They are fantastic people..so for you to moan and pizz so much about being 'french and indian' ..is just mind boggling...I am Italian and irish...I could never spend days like you do, just pondering what others are thiniking, and how angry I am that they are not doing what I want them to do...You have too much time on your hands to be thinking of yourself all the time like this...while you are doing this, and fussing about such nonsense. some child is being beat and tortured like you were...why the hell don't you try to find some program, where you can stop the insanity, and help some OTHER child, to protect them from what you went through in your life..you just might find out how healing it is..when you think of others for a change...not trying to be mean, just trying to wake you up.

hellow there, I completly understand your situation I'm half german and Mexican I have olive skin color with green eyes and chocolate brown hair everyone would mistake me as Italian and my boyfriend is Mexican and people mistake him as I hope I'm spelling this right somoen ya he gets very angry but he deals with it than later laughs about it on the other hand me I am very proud of my heritage I also mistake people on television too I look at the both of my parents and me and I'm like did my mom sleep with the mail man or something? but do you let people really get to you that bad to where you want to move away? maybe tomarow will be a better day for you because I remember when I was in middle school and someone called me a taco and nachos which is a dish mexicans eat I put him in his place he never botherd me again but when someone accidently mistakes you for something your not thats a completly different story and I say I'm sorry if I ever mistaken someone to be something else so try not to feel so much on the defensive side because I have learned that being on the defensive side does not always work in the real world out there I hope this has helped you with your problem and good luck and if someone mistakes you for something else again educate them and tell them what you are and that there will open their mind up and let them think that hay there are different types of cultures in different places throw it in their face and try to be nice about it it makes you more smart and even more of an adult than you are so. So you have psychological problems, do you see a psycologist? Let me give you some geat advice on that Are you looking for someone to tell you your problems? Because I remember having a couple problems myself and I stoped and thought about it do I want to pay someone to sit there and tell me my problems or do I accept that I have problems and solve them myself because people make things complicated for themselves the answer is right in front of you. Some people are weak minded and some are strong and you have to be a stronger person about things in life or you will let people walk all over you life is nothing but problems you have to get past it and dont go backwards in the past you want to go forward look at your self in the muiror and tell you what you see a handsome beautiful intelligent person inside someone that can change the world and yourself for the good and dont let anyone take that away from you move forward not backwards I hope this opens your eyes.

I've always thought that French was White, actually I'm pretty sure it is, b/c my grandmas Creole, ans she said so.

But anyway, maybe it has to with how you dress too, I mean do you like wear like the clothes that wear in Britain or like or you know clothes that people would usually think Indians wear?
And babe, its ok if you dont look like French/Indian, you know what you are, and if anyone mistakes you for anything else, just tell them.
I dont know if that helped but I hope it did.
xoxo

Hope helps your self esteem.

...I think the real question is why you let how other's perceive you effect your life so much. What does it matter whether they classify you as "british" or "white" or etc? There's really no difference in the end.
