You're not likely to need the card all that much. If you do develop a need for it, you can apply for a new one.

You will need your card in the future when you apply for jobs and other things. Write or call the Social Security office and go through the process to get a new one.

You will need that number as your personal ID the rest of your life.

It is required for applying for credit, new utilities services, banking ID, even getting a Drivers licenses in some states.

With the new anti terrorism laws you need to prove your status and your identity.

Call your local Social Security office

I NEVER carry my card and rarely even see it. However, every employer I have ever had asked to see it before I started work. Because they are required to withhold taxes, they have a legitimate reason to confirm the number. Contact the nearest Social Security office to find out how to replace the card.

There will be times when you will need to show your card. You can get a replacement at any SS office by filling out a form and forking over a few bucks. Keep it in a safe place.

You should ask for a replacement card - yes, you'll likely need it in the future, so put it in a safe place when you get it.

Either call your social security office, or go to ssa.gov to request a replacement.

Yes, so you need to see about getting the card replaced.

You may need the card to apply for a driver's license, depending on where you live. It's required in New York, for instance.

You may need to present it to employers for proper withholding. Some will take your word for it on the number, others will want to see the physical card.

You'll need it to apply for benefits.

Yes, you will need the card, and you should definitely report the loss, since someone can use the number to steal your identity and your credit.
