Yes. There is no 100% safe form of birth control. The chances are slim (it varies by the type - condoms are less effective than the Pill or an IUD, for example), but are also increased if you don't use it exactly as directed (Birth Control Pills should be taken at the SAME TIME every day, for example, or a condom should be held on the penis during withdrawal immediately after ejaculation and disposed of to avoid leakage - little things people don't always think about).

Yes, there is always that small chance because they're not 100% effective. Always use a condom even though you're on the pill, it'll protect you from contracting a disease and it lessens your chance of getting pregnant at the same time. Also, beware that taking an antibiotic will cause your birth control to get funky and not work correctly.

I had a friend who got pregnant while on the pill when she started taking antibiotics for something and then she got pregnant. She didn't even know she was pregnant til she went to the hospital with pain in her stomach and they ran all of these tests that came out negative. The nurses did a sonogram and then it showed she was pregnant. So just be careful (=

By dot, you mean period, right?
If that's the case, there is still a chance that you can get pregnant. Some women still have some bleeding or spotting during the first month of pregnancy. I highly suggest that you take a home pregnancy test however, just to be safe.

My daughter, who was on the pill, began to take St. John's Wort, an over the counter remedy to help stress. Next month her new baby is due! She didn't know until after the fact that this supplement has a negative effect on birth control pills. By the way, this particular daughter was conceived after I had had a tubal ligation! Good luck!

Well everyone is saying it's 99% effective or whatever but the key is, that it's 99% effective when used as directed, that means never missing a pill. And unfortunately there are people like myself who have "contraindications" to the pill which means my son was a suprise. For some people ( me) it just doesn't work for your body, and actually it caused me many health problems as well, including having to have my gallbladder removed. For many other women it causes bloodclots which can lead to strokes or heart attacks. Nothing is 100% and nothing is truly safe, you have to weigh your options.

Like using other forms of contraceptives, such as condoms, birth control isn't 100%, therefor you can get pregnant on birthcontrol. Infact, I know someone who has.

Things can also lower the sucess rate of birth control, such as taking antibiotics, vomiting, inconsistant or misuse of the drug, or even in the first month or so of use.

So if you're really concerned about getting pregnant, use another method of contraceptives ontop of your birth control.

Yep. You sure can and many people have! Also, having a menses does not mean you are not pregnant. Try talking to a medical person and getting some education. You have no business having sexual intercourse if you don't understand reproduction, birth control and disease prevention. I am sorry if this is harsh, but you are really exposing yourself and society to all the negative consequences because of your ignorance.

YES! The pill is 99% effective. Only abstaining is 100%,
there are things that can affect the pills effectiveness of which compliance in taking the pill and the use of certain anitbiotics.
If you want to make it 99.9% have your sexual partner use a condom also.

Theres a small chance of it but it can truly happen.

The only way not to get pregnant is abstinence.
