There is a great deal of confusion surrounding this question. I will tell you the most important thing, and that is what unconditional love is NOT:
Unconditional love is NOT taking abuse or disrespect from someone.
What it IS: not changing the way a person eats, talks, works, plays, walks, believes, or spends his time.
If you take exception to one of these attributes to the point where you can't live with it, let the person go. Letting someone go can be an act of unconditional love, because you are totally accepting the person the way he chooses to be and at the same time totally accepting yourself the way you choose to be and acknowledging that the set up is not conducive to a relationship.
Remember, there is no conflict or competition in the Universe ~ when you do what is truly in your own best interests, you are at the same time doing what is truly in the best interests of everyone concerned.

Unconditional means that you love the other person with out expecting anything in return.
This means, you have no conditions. If they were unable to do anything for you. It wouldn't matter. Thats why it is so often refered to in the parent/ child bond. There is nothing you could do or not do that would change the love.
In a relationship, this is very hard to achieve and I don't think you can get to the same level as a parent/child. Because we are so capable of causing pain, mistrust and jealousy.

I beleive that unconditional love means that no matter what the two of you will get through the problem. Except for cheating I couldn't forgive that. When your mate has done something wrong you forgive him/her, you may not forget but you won't throw it in there face everytime you get in an arguement either.

Unconditional love is loving the good and bad, no matter what happens, and never changing.
I dont think it is something you can strive for, its just the way that it is, or isn't. I think that you could compare it to the way a parent loves a child. Sounds like you have it figured out already.

Unconditional love is not a complete reality. We always expect something in return & often we should from a spouse. Like monogomy, kindness, etc. Sometimes you might love someone unconditionally, but it's usually for just a period of time. Unless you're talking about your children, usually something happens in the marriage that it shatters that idea of unconditionally. I think love is something you must fuel always as a couple, & prove it.

unconditional love is when you are knowing that you are going to get hurt, and hurt real bad and you still go help that person out.
The idea is
Male "I give my heart, time, soul to help you"
Female "Well I'm sorry, but I don't need your "care" right now. So go away"
With unconditional love, the male keep comig back

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. . .And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. - excerpts from 1 Corinthians 13:4-13
To truly love someone, you will never say.....
I will love you if you ......
To love unconditionally is to love without limitations

Its when you love someone even when they have done wrong in their life or you dont agree with some things they have done. It is loving them NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO.
