I'm 13, I've only had it once. I got it like last month i guess. I haven't gotten it back. I know the first year or so is irregular. But when I had it it was thick-ish, and at first it was blood red, but then it turned into a brown color. My friend said something about hers being brown the first time she got hers, but I forgot exactly what she said. Any help?

Brown is normal. It just means that it's old, so it might happen at the very beginning (from some that didnt get out last month) and at the end (from some that has been there all week). It's really gross, but it's normal. It is also normal to be irregular. It took me 2 years to be able to track mine.

For the first, second, and third periods your period will usually be very light and a light brown or a dark brown color. It's so light that you'll only need a pantiliner. Within your fifth and sixth periods it will start getting real normal and red/bloody, etc. That's normal, too. Good luck!

when your period discharge goes from red to brown, you're 'ending up' for that month....sometimes, too, if the 'period' wasn't very much at all, the red discharge can hang out in the uterus and take it's time moving on out and not be red by the time it does get to the outside of your body....

nice that you have a friend to talk to and that you've come here to ask questions, too, but you need to get your answers also from your Mom or sister or Grandma, someone who's close to you, so that if there's a real problem, you can talk to them about it and be comforted if it's not a big deal....

friends can be wrong in their info and we're too far away to really help you, ya know?... talk to mom.....

Yep, that's normal. It likely means the blood is older and took longer to come out. Your period will likely be all sorts of weird for the first several months, unfortunately, but most of the time, that's totally normal!

Brown is just old blood. Don't worry about it, it's completely normal. Most women get it at the beginning or end of their periods.

This is normal. The brownish fluid is called loccea (prounounced low-key-ah) and is a normal aftermath as the blood flow slows to a stop for the coming rest of your cycle on toward ovulation. Though icky to look at, it is harmless. Just keep clean and you'll be fine! Good luck!

i could recommend getting lower back on the pill. It regulates you cycle and lessens the quantity of day you have it. My classes have been all tousled and that i could get so crabby, so my Dr. placed me on Yaz. it works super and the days that I even have my era are lessened rather a lot. sturdy success.
