its always been a dream of mine to be on broadway or in a movie. before i do though, i want to go to college so that if all else fails, i'll have a degree to work with. i love to dance, im a good actress, and people tell me that i have a nice voice. does anybody have any tips for me on how to start training and once i feel ready, actually get a job? i live in new england if that matters. i also take dance classes 5 days a week.

I agree 100% with TheaterDoc! I have been told this when I started by several big names like George Clooney, and Keven Bacon: If you can do anything else besides acting, GO DO THAT instead of acting.

Acting should be something that a person pursues as a career, ONLY if there is nothing else that they can do and be reasonably happy.

But if you are sure about this, then the answer is simple. Do plays, study acting, continue with your dance classes!

first, I must tell you that if you can do anything besides act, you will choose to do that becasue it is so much easier.

I agree that you should get into an acting class. In the meantime, be in all the stage productions you can, read about acting and how to get a job. When you have an impressive resume of experience and classes, you can try to get an agent.

Dont get into a big rush, these things take time.
